Adam, an artificial intelligence startup emerging from Y Combinator's Winter 2025 batch, has completed a $4.1 million seed funding round. The capital is designated to advance the company's planned AI copilot for professional computer-aided design (CAD) workflows, according to CEO Zach Dive.
TQ Ventures led the funding round, with participation from 468 Capital, Pioneer, Script Capital, and Transpose Platform. Angel investors, including Tim Glaser of Posthog, Trevor Blackwell of YC, and Theo Browne of T3 Chat, also contributed. Dive indicated that TQ Ventures' alignment with Adam's strategic roadmap, which prioritizes a consumer-first approach before expanding into enterprise solutions, was a key factor in selecting the lead investor.
The startup initially gained market traction with a text-to-3D model application that generated over 10 million social media impressions. While this initial product targeted creators without specialized CAD skills, early user feedback highlighted the need for more varied interaction paradigms beyond text for 3D model manipulation. Dive stated that improvements in AI models accelerated their enterprise timeline, with the AI copilot now slated for launch by the end of the year. This copilot will incorporate features allowing users to select specific parts of a 3D object and engage in conversational interactions to modify designs.
Adam's enterprise offering will focus on mechanical engineering, assisting professional users in generating feature-rich parametric designs within established CAD programs, beginning with Onshape. The company's strategy aims to streamline time-consuming tasks for engineers, rather than replacing their roles. Vercel founder Guillermo Rauch characterized Adam as "the v0 of CAD," noting its potential for simplicity, speed, and broader accessibility.
The company currently reports "tens of thousands of individual users" for its consumer-grade standard and pro plans, priced at $5.99 and $17.99 per month, respectively. While the enterprise offering is undergoing a testing phase and has not yet been monetized, Dive confirmed that testers are validating various features. The upcoming copilot will enter a competitive landscape that already includes other AI-driven CAD copilot solutions, such as MecAgent.
