YouTube Unveils AI-Powered Creator Tools, Likeness Detection in Studio Updates
Published:

YouTube announced a series of new and updated features for YouTube Studio on Tuesday, impacting the platform's more than 30 million monthly creators. The enhancements, revealed at its "Made on YouTube" event, include an AI-powered chatbot, expanded likeness detection tools, and improved auto-dubbing capabilities, alongside features for content inspiration and A/B testing. Many of these tools build on previously announced or pilot programs, now rolling out more broadly across the platform.

A significant update is the expanded likeness detection feature, which is moving into an open beta phase for all creators enrolled in the YouTube Partner Program. This technology, first announced in 2024 and tested with select top creators, enables participants to identify, manage, and request the removal of unauthorized content utilizing their facial likeness. YouTube states this initiative aims to protect creators' images and reputations while preventing audience deception.

Further integrating artificial intelligence, YouTube introduced "Ask Studio," an AI-powered chatbot designed to assist creators with account-related inquiries. This tool can provide insights into video performance or audience feedback on editing styles, offering actionable data. The "Inspiration tab," initially launched last year, also received updates. It now generates tailored topic suggestions and provides nine responses to AI prompts, aiding content planning by explaining suggestions based on audience insights.

YouTube Studio will also implement advanced A/B testing functionalities, allowing creators to compare up to three different video titles and thumbnails. The company noted that creators have utilized the existing A/B testing feature more than 15 million times since its initial launch in 2023. Additionally, a new collaboration feature will enable up to five creators to work on a single video, which will be shown to the collective audiences of all participants. Revenue generated from such collaborations will be attributed to the channel that posts the video.

In an effort to enhance global content accessibility, YouTube announced plans to test lip-syncing technology for its auto-dubbing features. Currently supporting dubbing into 20 languages, this improvement aims to create more realistic translated videos by aligning lip movements with the dubbed audio. YouTube data indicates that from December 2024 to August 2025, viewers spent, on average, over 75% more time viewing auto-dubbed videos compared to their original versions.
